The most important source of information about Mary Sample is found in the brief biography of her grandson, Joseph Shultz, in Portrait and Biographical Record of Lee County, IL, p 352. This states that his grandmother was Mary Sample, that she came from England to Delaware to PA, and that she lived to the age of 83, that is, ca 1844, given a possible birthdate a few years younger than her husband, and within the adult memory of Joseph Shultz.
A second and newly available source is in the DNA of her descendants.

The names Josine Boyer and Cunningham Sample both appear among this writer’s DNA matches, although documentation is unclear.
