I’ve been a dedicated Ricardian since the 1970s. So I was happy to discover my descent through Capt. Philip Nelson of Rowley, Essex County, Massachusetts, to Anne of York and her second husband, Sir Thomas St. Leger. Anne was a sister of Richard III and Edward IV. These are my mother’s ancestors, from her great-great-grandmother, Harriet (Dickinson) Light.
But a new publication shows that my father’s Craighead ancestors actually descend from Henry Tudor, that is Henry VII of England, and his awful mother, Margaret Beaufort.
It’s through Robert Stewart, first Earl of Orkney, with two generations of royal bastards.
